About Me

My Story

Jim "Moki" Macanas
Dinner table stories were my father's playground. Jim "Moki" Macanas was a car salesman. His infectious humor brought laughter as he'd share tales, his favorite phrase often punctuating them: "I can sell ice to an Eskimo!" He'd proudly sip his beer, leaving me, a five-year-old, puzzled. "Why sell ice to someone who already has it?" I'd wonder. He'd chuckle, promising I'd understand someday if I ever entered sales.
Fast forward 15 years. As a fleet sales manager, I understood. But not the "ice to Eskimos" approach. Honesty and integrity, I believed, were the keys to loyal customers. My sales journey diverged from my father's.
At 20, deemed too young for retail car sales (and frankly, I wasn't interested), I became a fleet sales manager, cold-calling companies buying multiple vehicles. My targets: rental agencies, leasing companies, construction firms. Building trust and maintaining connections, I became Nissan Motor Corporation USA's top-performing fleet salesperson at 22, both in gross sales and vehicle volume.

My career progessed from there. I co-owned an auto-leasing company, built a business travel development company and went on to discover more rewarding areas of sales. Currently, I am (hands-off) co-founder of a commercial interior design firm, Cafe Design & Architecture, now in it's 20th year; and a mobile detailing business, Viser's Mobile Detailing.

For the past 20 years I've enjoyed being a B2B recruiter, manager, mentor, and trainer. Witnessing others grow while achieving work-life balance brings me immense satisfaction. My past experiences, with successes and failures, now empower me to share valuable lessons with others.
